Mara & Other Princesses

We had the wonderful privilege of meeting Mara and her beautiful family on June 11th, they live in WA and were in town for a wedding. Here is a picture of Mara in our backyard.

And here is a picture of Sadie in one of Ashley's dress-ups yesterday.

Thought for the day:
To appreciate every single day with the ones you love the most.
Never take anything or anyone for granted.
Appreciate the small and simple things.
Be Grateful.

I was so sad to hear that news. I had been following hers and Sadie's stories from the links you have on your blog. What a sweet girl!! I am glad your family got to meet her, and I have no doubt Mara's family is so grateful to have met you and Paul as well. I think you are exactly right...there must have been a great princess party held yesterday and I'm sure Ashley was the best hostess, just like her mom!

Em, sorry to hear about her passing. She looks like such a sweet little girl. I have no doubt Ashley welcomed her with open arms. What a sweet experience that must have been. I'm sorry to hear it was such an emotional day.
Love ya!

Oh, Em. I'm so sorry for what must have been a heartbreaking day yesterday. Beautiful little Mara. My heart aches for her family and for Hannah's as they had to celebrate their first birthday without her. Sometimes life just doesn't seem fair.

I was glad to hear that you got to spend the day with darling little Sadie. She is such a doll and that dress-up picture was so sweet. I bet Ashley loved looking down on that play date!

As always, I love you and I love Ashley and my heart still breaks for you. Your thought of the day really made me think how grateful I am for you and the things you've taught me through this terrible trial of yours. I feel like I'm a different Mom because of you and Ashley. At least I hope I am. I love watching you with Avie. You're so patient and notice all the sweet little things about a 3 year old that sometimes I neglect to notice as I'm dealing with the not-so-sweet stuff. I love being around you and learning from you. Just love you.

I love your posts emily. our best wishes to you and paul and to mara's family - what a hard time. makes me smile though to think of you and the families of these sweet girls getting together to share your stories and comfort eachother.

Paul looks very professional on his first day of school....too bad there wasn't a big yellow bus to pick him up and take him down to byu!

Emily! I was soo sad to hear of Mara. I linked to her story often! I was hoping she would have longer. Thank you,Emily, for helping me learn the most important lessons in life. You are a valuable friend and I cherish time spent with you. Let's get together when I get back. Alice made my day in Sunday School. Her little smile and her energy brightend my day. Thank goodness we have the gospel.

"We have more friends behind the veil than on this side, and they will hail us more joyfully than you were ever welcomed by your parents and friends in this world; and you will rejoice more when you meet them than you ever rejoiced to see a friend in this life; and then we shall go on from step to step, from rejoicing to rejoicing, and from one intelligence and power to another, our happiness becoming more and more exquisite and sensible as we proceed in the words and powers of life." --Brigham Young

I got the cutest visual in my head when you said that they were having a princess party, of the perfect little scene from a pottery barn magazine, the perfect tea party, each dressed up as their favorite princess. I bet your right about that, that was heaven for them here on earth and I bet the tradition continues! I can't wait to see them.

I haven't looked at your blog for a while, so it has been fun to catch up. I am so impressed (but not surprised at all) that you are so connected to these other families with little girls just like Ashley. I am sure they love having you there for support. I am also totally impressed that you did a half-marathon, and cannot believe how darling Alice is. Sorry, though, because we already have Zack picked out for one of our girls! Well, he may think those long dark curls are to die for, though, because they are! Your blog is awesome and makes me want to be a better person and better mom. Thanks...

I've been following all the little girls since I first learned about Ashley last year. All of you amaze me. What a sweet little girl Mara was. I'm positive they were having a princess party...I'm sure they were all received with open arms. Sadie looks so sweet in the dress ups. Your strength and Pauls strength are such great examples to me. (btw...he looks excited for that first day of school..love that post)

We think of you and your family often. I'm so glad I've been able to know you and your family.
